Chiho Aoshima (Contemporary artist / Kaikaikiki in Japan)

Graduated from Hosei University, self taught artist, Chiho Aoshima made her debut with a series of chromogenic prints that took advantage of her mastery of Adobe Illustrator but has since gone on to produce digital animations, sculptures, and hand-painted works.
She uses a variety of techniques, both digital and traditional, to create unique and extraordinary worlds full of ghosts, demons, schoolgirls, and exquisite natural landscapes. The beauty and delicate eroticism of this distinctly Japanese world have earned her considerable acclaim from designers and forward thinking museum curators. Her work is printable on any surface, including paper and plastic.

Her work has garnered international attention and she has taken part in a number of high profile projects. She collaborated with Naoki Takizawa for Issey Miyake in 2003, with her artwork featured on clothing for the spring/summer collection. More recently, she provided artwork for a series of pitchers to be released worldwide by Absolut Vodka in the Summer of 2010.
In 2004, she was invited to participate in the 54th Carnegie International at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, where she unveiled her largest wallpaper piece to date, measuring 106 feet (32.5m) in length by 15 feet (4.8m) in height.
In May 2005, her ecologically-themed 'City Glow and paradise' series covered ad spaces throughout New York's Union Square subway station, greeting passing commuters as part of her first public art project.
In 2006, her artwork 'City Glow, Mountain Whisper,' as featured in a massive installation inside London's Gloucester Underground station.
In recent years, her range of expression has continued to evolve as she has debuted works in a number of new mediums, including sculpture, animation, and drawings on Japanese paper.
