Tracey McMaster (Short documentary video maker)

Tracey McMaster was born in Belfast and now works in Wales as an artist and filmmaker.

McMaster studied Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University and Musashino Art University where her practice developed into producing short moving image portraits of individuals in her community. McMaster then co-founded Backlit, an experimental gallery and studio space in Nottingham as well as co-establishing COMMUNITY:VIDEO a platform for moving image artists in the East Midlands to share and discuss their work.

During 2012 and 2013, McMaster won three art awards (including the video award for EWAAC) for her short, factual video portraits which explore how people are shaped by place and pastimes.

McMaster began working for production companies in 2012, gaining film industry experience.  She has now co-produced two feature length documentaries and continues to develop her own artistic practice.
